NEW YEAR: NEW CRACOW TOURS

First of all, I wanted to write that I always listen to my Walkers. Therefore, all the suggestions for walks or museums that you make on my Facebook will be implemented during this year. On the other hand, while preparing new routes, I took into account the fact that 2023 will be an anniversary year for several figures.

In the footsteps of Włodzimierz Tetmajer
This is an ideal tour for students, high school graduates, but also all lovers of Young Poland. 2023 marks the 100th anniversary of the death of one of the most important representatives of the artistic bohemia of the late 19th century. During the tour we will hear about the not easy painting studies under Jan Matejko, we will see the church where he married Anna Mikołajczykówna, as well as the cafes where he frequented. In addition, I will talk about Włodzimierz Tetmajer’s activities as a politician and social activist.

In the footsteps of Wislawa Szymborska
The year 2023 has also been declared the year of Wislawa Szymborska, in connection with the centennial of the poet’s birth. Szymborska was born in Greater Poland, but lived and worked in Krakow. During the tour we will hear about the Nobel Prize winner’s literary achievements. We will see the houses where she lived and walk in her footsteps in the Old Town. We’ll learn where she entertained dinner guests, how she spent her free time and what was her greatest passion.

Krakow Airport Transfer

In the footsteps of Jan Matejko
Under a resolution adopted by the Senate, Jan Matejko will also be the patron saint of 2023. There are plenty of places in Krakow associated with the artist. He was born here, studied here, created paintings here and died here. We will see his great works in the Cloth Hall, where you will find out what code the Master hid in his paintings. Walking in his footsteps, we will learn what he argued with the City Council about, how he fought for the construction of the Academy of Fine Arts building, as well as which monuments he saved from the „behemoths.” We will listen to anecdotes related to Matejko’s personal life and his great love for Theodora.

Summary
The proposed tours can be carried out on the date of your choice. The basic tour time is two hours, but tours can be longer upon request. In addition, the tour in the footsteps of Jan Matejko may include entrance to a selected museum department: Matejko’s House on Florianska Street, the Gallery of 19th Century Polish Art in the Cloth Hall or the temporary exhibition in the main building of the National Museum.
